Joe Thomson

Joe Thomson joined Dunfermline from Celtic in June 2018 on a two year deal. Thomson, a midfielder, has been capped for Scotland at every age level from under-15 to under-21.

Thomson was born in Paisley and played for his local boys club, Gleniffer Thistle. He had been at Celtic from the age of 12 but was only to make one appearance for the Hoops coming on as a sub v Dundee United in a 3-1 win in August 2015.

His senior football experience was to be gained with three on loan deals, firstly to Dumbarton in August 2016 for the first half of the season. Joe scored his first senior goal in a 2–2 draw at home against Dunfermline Athletic on 29 October 2016.

On 1 January 2017, Thomson joined Queen of the South for the second half of the season, he made 16 starting appearances for the Dumfries club. At the start August 2017, Thomson was sent out on loan to Livingston but was only to play three league matches there and so on 29 December 2017, he returned to Queen of the South for a second spell on loan. He initially joined on an emergency loan deal however remained with Queens until the end of May 2018. In this spell he made 17 starts and one appearance off the bench.

Made 29 starts and three appearances as a substitute before injuring his anterior crucial event ligament against Ayr United on 29 March 2019. Despite that ending his season he was voted Player of the Season.

When starting in the Ladbrokes Championship match at Inverness on 21 December 2019 his comeback was complete.

His contract was not renewed in the wake of Covid-19.
