He made his league debut when he replaced Kallum Higginbotham late in the second half of the 3-0 win over Partick Thistle later that season.

Matty made his first league start against Ross County on 9 April 2019 and scored his first Dunfermline goal v Morton on 6 November 2021. Matty was loaned out to Brechin City for season 2020-2021 but was recalled in January 2021.

In the cinch Championship match at home to Dundee United on 15th March 2024, Matty made his 100th appearance for Dunfermline Athletic, scoring the first goal in the 3-1 victory.
