Matty Todd was one of six players who moved up from Fife Elite Football Academy for season 2018-2019.
He became a regular in the first team in 2021-2022 as John Hughes deployed him at right back but it was in midfield that he blossomed starting almost every match under James McPake in 2022-2023 until his season ended early due to appendicitis. He contributed 11 goals in the League One winning season, won the Goal of the Season, was Dunfermline’s Young Player of the Year and was also nominated for the PFA Scotland League One Player of the Year.
The former Dunfermline High School pupil plays anywhere in midfield and was signed up by Stephen Wright for Dunfermline after turning down an offer from Celtic.
He played almost every under 20s match in season 2017-2018 before making his first team debut in the Challenge Cup match away to Inverness Caley Thistle on 14 August 2018. He made his league debut when he replaced Kallum Higginbotham late in the second half of the 3-0 win over Partick Thistle later that season.
Matty made his first league start against Ross County on 9 April 2019 and scored his first Dunfermline goal v Morton on 6 November 2021. Matty was loaned out to Brechin City for season 2020-2021 but was recalled in January 2021.
In the cinch Championship match at home to Dundee United on 15th March 2024, Matty made his 100th appearance for Dunfermline Athletic, scoring the first goal in the 3-1 victory.
As at 31/05/23: 84 Dunfermline appearances of which 17 were as substitute.
