Those European Nights’: the story continues with the prints of VfB Stuttgart and Girondins de Bordeaux available to buy now

This is an opportunity to buy history and at the same time support the Dunfermline Athletic Youth Academy which is producing great players for the future.

Dunfermline Athletic has only played teams from Germany and France once each in competitive football. They came out in front (narrowly) both times.

In season 1964-65, Dunfermline met VfB Stuttgart in the European Fairs Cup. Defending a 1-0 lead from the first leg with a goal from Tom Callaghan, the Scots went to Stuttgart and got the draw that saw them progress in the competition to meet Athletic Bilbao.

Girondins de Bordeaux was a much higher scoring affair. The Pars took a 4-0 lead to France with goals from Paton (2), Mitchell and Gardner. A towsy affair in Bordeaux saw the Pars through in the European Fairs Cup despite losing two goals. The next opponent would be Gwardia Warsaw.

These prints, by renowned football artist Paul Town, are limited editions of eighty-eight and each is signed by Paul. They contain not only the paintings but also images of various artefacts from the games. The A3 prints are £25 each unframed and are sold as a pair. Where supporters have purchased the Everton and Athletic Bilbao prints previously they will be offered the same numbers for the prints.
