Wallace leads the fight back

Monday, 8th Oct 2012

"I'm sure that the Falkirk players didn't want to lose either but it was fantastic to come back and take a result from that game ..

Ryan Wallace v Falkirk

Ryan Wallace feels that the team spirit that was evident at Airdrie when Dunfermline came from behind to win, was also present at Falkirk on Saturday.

"We dug in and the boys got the result. I thought we played some really good football; we moved the ball and kept going."

That was Jim Jefferies half time message; do not change the philosophy - just keep playing football and it will come:-

"We got our chances and we took them. Nobody wants to lose - I'm sure that the Falkirk players didn't want to lose either but it was fantastic to come back and take a result from that game."

Two nil down with eleven minutes to go, the young Dunfermline team had to be confident that the points were still worth fighting for:-

"Andy Barrowman was trying to pick everybody up but all the boys were already in high sprits because we knew if we got one chance then there was a possibility that you could come back. 2-0 is a hard scoreline to keep because one goal totally changes the game."

To take a point from the Falkirk Stadium was enough to lift the Pars above Partick Thistle and into top place in the First Division. Ryan knows that to be there at the end of the season would be great:-

"We are very young. Six or seven of us are under 22 so we are just looking to progress every week "

Ryan felt that it was a surreal final 11 minutes to the match as they suddenly found themselves back in the game. The striker paid tribute to the travelling support that exceeded 1600 at Falkirk and the part they played:-

"When we were 2-0 down they were absolutely fantastic; they were still singing and still keeping us going. Thanks very much to everyone of them. It was a big derby game; everybody knows that - the tackles were flying in. I am delighted for the fans but obviously more delighted for the boys, management and the Club."
