Wallace happy to be back

Thursday, 18th Dec 2014

"I still feel as if I am a bit off it. I guess it takes time to get up to speed again.

Ryan Wallace says it's good to be back after returning to action in Tuesday afternoon's SPFL Development League match against Aberdeen:-

"I was a bit stiff and a bit sore but it was good to last longer than I thought I would. I was feeling good at half time and I spoke to the gaffer and he said that he'd like me to play for a wee bit longer. I agreed and so I got an extra fifteen minutes out of it. I did a recovery session yesterday and trained today.

"During the game I felt alright although I thought that the first half just passed me by. I worked hard but felt that I wasn't on the ball enough or my usual self - I like to influence the game. I changed my boots at half time, came out with studs instead of moulds and when I came out for the second half I felt better.

"I still feel as if I am a bit off it. I guess it takes time to get up to speed again. Aberdeen started the game very fast which was a bit of a shell shock. I have only played four games since February and it has been a frustrating time, I don't think they were four full games either. It is great being back involved and around the boys and knowing that you are doing proper training."

Ryan welcomed his team mate of two and a half years being elevated to manager.

"It will take time to get used to calling him gaffer but it is a great opportunity for him to manage the team he supported. He knows the boys, the boys know him and I am sure that he will be a good manager. Things will be done his way and there will be exciting times for everybody involved.

"Jim Jefferies felt that it was time for him to go, he had made his decision. I don't think anybody could make that decision for him. He maybe felt that he had taken us as far as he could take us and it was time to give it to the gaffer and Neil and give them a wee shot. They will have some fresh ideas and we are looking forward to playing for them.

"The new gaffer has played recently, it is not as if he retired ten years ago. He has been playing and involved with the squad."
