MATCH PICTURES
With 3 SCOTS, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (The Black Watch) just about to embark upon a seven month tour of duty in Afghanistan, its soldiers did battle of a different kind taking on Dunfermline U19s at East End Park on Sunday afternoon.

Within the first minute Dunfermline were awarded a penalty after keeper Ryan Gonsales made a rather crude tackle on Connor Schivone on the edge of his box. Rees Smith stepped up to the mark but his attempt slipped wide of the left goalpost.

John MacDonald swung in a dangerous ball across the face of goal but Jordan White failed to finish before in 12 minutes the Black Watch team had an opportunity of their own. Scott Berry dispossessed Harry McGregor and Damian Gonsales latched on to the loose ball to test Bald.

MacDonald fed Schivone a 15th minute chance but he drove straight at the keeper. Then Chris Lennon punctuated a good run down the left with a shot over the crossbar. Nichol scooped a MacDonald cross over his bar handing Dunfermline a 23rd minute corner but when that was cleared to the edge of the box, Gonsales held Lewis Turner`s drive.

In 27 minutes Craig Bald held a Damian Gonsales drive while at the end his brother held a shot, only half hit by White. MacDonald connected well with the next one but he pulled his effort wide left.

Connor Schivone scores v Black Watch

Dunfermline took the lead in 36 minutes when the army side failed to halt a Lennon break down the left and his cut back was driven home by Connor SCHIVONE.

Pars coach Hamish French then brought on all four of his subs and Lawrie CANNON was only off the bench five minutes when he turned in a loose ball at a Lennon corner.

Bald had to hold an impressive diving header from Gary Spence in 49 minutes when he was on the end of a Drummond cross from the right. At the other end the Pars came close after Schivone had latched on to a poor goal kick but his shot from an angle on the left broke off the crossbar.

The striker faired no better on the hour when he broke away to fire wide left after a run that took him to the edge of the penalty box. White was back on in 64 minutes and he had an early opportunity to add his name to the scoresheet but a defender got in behind the keeper to stop him.

Jordan White nets third v Black Watch 22/03/09

Cannon did all the hard work destroying the visitors on the left side of their defence before releasing a fine cut back that WHITE turned in at the near post. Trialist Scougall made Gonsales pull off a fine save after Turner had returned the ball across goal.

Eleven minutes from the end WHITE took advantage of a break off the defence to stick away number four. Lawrie CANNON increased the margin of defeat displaying great close control to net in 84 minutes.  The post denied White a hatrick but by then the result was well and truly decided.
