Support for the development of our talented reserve team squad
Friday, 10th Aug 2018Development squad update
Our club was delighted to be able to attract a really promising crop of youngsters from the Fife Elite Football Academy under 17 age group, during the summer. The youngsters will form the basis of our Reserve Team this coming season and they have already shown to Pars fans, in pre-season matches, their undoubted ability and understanding.
Investing in young local players for the future, is so important to our club, a fact the DAFC Board fully recognises. However, it is also important to retain our investment in our first team squad, particularly this season in what will be a hugely competitive Championship.
Therefore, in planning for the current season our club’s strategy was to try and fund the reserve team separately, or as much as we possibly could, in terms of wages, kit, travel etc.
Club Chairman Ross McArthur explained “since our club was restructured following administration, the support of the Pars Family, and wider community has been exceptional and so many people continue to help our club, in so many different ways. I have to say it is truly humbling at times!
“However, in order to attract the necessary investment, our proposal had been to source a lead sponsor for the development squad players, as well as creating a Development Club Membership scheme, to provide the necessary further funding. I am delighted to report that our plans to date have been really successful.
Carron Bathrooms has kindly agreed to be our lead sponsor of the development squad players for the coming season.
In addition, we currently have 22 supporters who have agreed to join the newly formed Development Club scheme, for a one off membership of £1,500, in return for a range of membership benefits. We are actively sourcing additional members, so if any Pars supporter would like more details please contact me by email ross@dafc.co.uk”
Carron Bathrooms Commercial Director, James McMorrine stated “we are delighted to sponsor the Dunfermline Athletic Development squad. At Carron, the majority of our team started with Carron on the “shop floor”. By offering our employees the opportunity to develop skills not only within manufacturing but also in personal development, our team have made Carron Bathrooms the no.1 supplier of baths in Europe.
“Our confidence in the structure at DAFC, meant that our support of the development squad players has a natural affinity with the next generation of players at DAFC, not only in improving their technical skills but to produce individuals with personal skills that will support them throughout their careers. We would like to wish Stevie Crawford and his squad the very best of luck for the coming season. COYP!”
DAFC Chairman, Ross McArthur further stated “on behalf of the DAFC Board I wish to thank Carron Bathrooms for being the lead sponsor of our reserve team players for season 2018-19. Their generous support is invaluable in assisting our club meet many of the ongoing costs of running the squad and helping young, talented footballers develop at East End Park. Our sincere thanks goes to David and James McMorrine.
“In addition, we would like to personally thank all of our Development Club Members who have also generously contributed towards helping our club run a reserve team this season. Our thanks go to: Donald Adamson, William Braisby, Brian Evangelista, Stevie Hunter, Jim Mullen, Margaret Ross Memorial Fund, Peter Smith and David Watson.
“There are a number of other Members who wish their contribution to remain anonymous, including a number of existing Board members and many other well- known faces in and around our club. Thanks must go to them as well”
