Dunfermline Athletic Football Club are very sad to learn of the death of lifelong Pars fan Stuart Arnott. Stuart was extremely well known around East End Park by players, management, directors and media.

His involvement has been huge and varied. Proud to claim that as a youth he was charged with putting up the half time scores on the old alphabetic noticeboards, Stuart held the position as Press Officer for close on twenty years attending matches both home and away before becoming Boardroom host.

Stuart was the friendly face who met visiting groups and schools to conduct guided tours of East End Park and was always involved in Open Days. He used his first hand experiences to retell the success stories of the European campaigns of the sixties.

Members of the media will be especially disappointed to hear of the loss of someone who greeted and looked after their needs on match days.

In June 2004 Stuart was awarded an MBE for services to the Boys` Brigade in Dunfermline.

Chairman Ross McArthur paid tribute:-

“On behalf of everyone at DAFC I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Arnott family. I also spoke to Kenny, Stuart’s son to pass on my best wishes privately, as I had so much respect for Stuart.

“He was an absolute gem of a man, a real gentleman who was always happy to help out, and always with a smile on his face. He has assisted the club on match days for many years and most recently, until the pandemic struck, had been a host in the club boardroom on match days. He was always such good company, respected by all who met him.

“At the same time he was always happy to assist our schools engagement programme with our school tour events, and I saw first hand how he had a such great way with the children explaining how things operated around the club.

“He will be sadly missed at East End Park. Rest in Peace Stuart”

Stuart`s funeral will take place on October 7, at 11am, at Kirkcaldy Crematorium. The cortege will pass East End Park at 9.30am on Thursday.
