Stephen Simmons Post QOS

Monday, 15th Dec 2008

"I used to get worse than that when I was playing at home. They can shout what they want it doesn't really bother me. I actually like it when they shout."

Nick Phinn and Stephen Simmons

Queen of the South midfielder, former Par, Stephen Simmons felt that his team were a bit lucky to survive all the first half pressure exerted by Dunfermline:-

"We played a lot better in the second half and created a few ourselves but it was just a kick in the teeth there at the end to lose. I couldn't really see it but Macca knows what he is doing backing into the keeper. Cammy dropped it, fair enough. He is a bit groggy but I think he will be alright. He kept us in it especially with the saves he pulled off in the first half, he kept us in it so no blame there.

"It was a good ding dong game - up and down, up and down, breakaways and tackles, penalty claims. It was disappointing to come out the end of it with a defeat."

Stephen acknowledged that he had come in for a tremendous amount of stick from the away support but joked:-

"I used to get worse than that when I was playing at home. They can shout what they want it doesn't really bother me. I actually like it when they shout."

Paul Gallacher did well to deny Simmons in the second half from a free kick:-

"Gall pulled off a great save. We were also shouting for a penalty when Calum tried to chest it back to Gall and I nipped in front of him. He took me out a bit, I played the ball and I thought there was a good claim for a penalty. I am just disappointed with the way we lost. We were unlucky but
I just hope that we can get back to our winning ways next week."
