Sloppy Goals are Galling

Monday, 28th Jan 2013

"We had three opportunities to clear the ball beforehand and we did not pick up a simple tap in.

PAUL GALLACHER

Paul Gallacher was disappointed with the third home defeat in four games but even more so after he had watched a playback of the goal that decided the result:-

"We had three opportunities to clear the ball beforehand and we did not pick up a simple tap in. These are the sloppy goals that we are losing at the minute, that's the frustrating thing. We got the reaction to the Airdrie game and played better but still nowhere near the standard that we have set ourselves.

Livingston score

"Our final ball and deliveries were all poor today; we let ourselves down and let the fans down with that. If there is anything positive from today we did play slightly better than we did against Airdrie."

Actually Paul had a relatively quite workload in the game against Livingston, he continued:-

"I only had pass backs to deal with" although he did observe that had its problems on a playing surface that cut up badly during the game. "They passed the ball well and looked dangerous. We got it down and played what we could but in the final third our last ball, delivery, shot at goal just did not have the quality today. That was sadly lacking."

With no points collected Dunfermline stay on 36 points which is now nine behind the leaders Morton but with a game in hand on them.

"It won't look good when I look at the league table later on. Its difficult to see what's going wrong, we are in a lull - not performing and not scoring goals. League tables don't lie, there are teams gaining on us and some are pulling away from us. Its an interesting league for neutrals but from our point of view disappointed with the outcome on Saturday."

The 33 year old keeper feels that the Scottish Cup tie against Hamilton next Saturday might be a nice distraction if Dunfermline could progress in the competition: but conceded "It will be a really tough game for us."
