Dunfermline Athletic

Scott Thomson Post County

Wednesday, 25th Mar 2009

"It's been two good wins then not played well, one good win, then a draw played rubbish, got beat, got beat. It is not good enough for Dunfermline Athletic Football Club."

Scott Thomson and Craig Brewster 24/03/09

Scott Thomson spoke exclusively to the website after the defeat at Dingwall:-

"It is a terrible result especially after the way we have played in the last two games. Against Aberdeen we were probably the better team over the two games. After the win at Clyde where we started really well, we came up to Ross County and just threw away the good work that we have done to get ourselves back into the league and try and get as many points as possible.

Nipper agreed that Dunfermline struggled to get a grip of the game.

"All over the park I thought we were very poor. I thought we had done the hard work by keeping it nil nil at half time. In the second half I thought we would come out and start playing the good football we have been playing in the last three or four games.

"We started the game well against Partick, played well against Livingston but got beat 4-2, but it just wasn't to be. As I have said before we are not a good enough team to start bad and think that we can change the game and step it up. "

It looked as though the Pars had withstood all the Ross County pressure but the home side netted in 62 minutes. Nipper felt that the defence seemed to get caught out.

"I was on Dyron Daal, Scott was across marking Craig Brewster and there seemed to be a massive gap. Brittain had plenty of time to take a touch and it went underneath Gall and they were one up.

"Then we started to play a little bit of football, still not great, but we got ourselves back. Then Oz was a little bit unfortunate, he takes a swing with his right foot and it goes to Brewster. He hits it first time and as soon as it bounced I just knew he was going to score. It just popped up for him and it was going to go in.

"Brew has got that in his locker at the tender age of 42, but that is what we thoroughly deserved on the night. We didn't deserve anything, we would have stolen a draw."

Scott came close to getting his name on the scoresheet. He said:-

"I had one I caught quite sweet, I actually got it too sweet, the ball came off Baynee and the two centre halfs and I caught it sweet and the goalie saved it. Then Nicky took a bad touch and the chance was gone.

"It doesn't look good now, we thought we had turned the corner and getting a bit of consistency, but that has been our problem all season. It's been two good wins then not played well, one good win, then a draw played rubbish, got beat got beat. It is not good enough for Dunfermline Athletic Football Club."
