"The main thing is the three points, that is what the gaffer wanted ..

The home match against Ayr United provided Ross Forbes with his second goal for Dunfermline Athletic and his third win in three games.  He commented:-

"The main thing is the three points, that is what the gaffer wanted with a clean sheet as well.  I will take any goal that goes in, that's two now but Shanks is claiming the other one.  I saw the goalkeeper come across but you just have to take the shots and hope that they go in"

The opening minutes yielded several chances prompting Jim Jefferies to comment that it could have been 2-2 after ten minutes, Ross added:-

"It was end to end for the first twenty minutes maybe, but once we got a grip of things we controlled the game and that showed that we scored."

The Pars second goal, right before half time, came from a crisp Forbes shot that came off the right post and travelled along the goalmouth towards the other post begging Shanklands conversion.

"Shanks said that theball wasn't over the line, I will need to wait and see the video. Goals do not really matter, it is all about the team and Shanks had to make sure it went in."

The midfielder who will be 25 in March made a claim to referee George Salmond but described that as light hearted appeal since everybody wants goals to their names.

"I just try to score as many goals as I can and don't really set targets, hopefully I can get a few more. The goal just before half time deflated Ayr a bit and even in the second half we showed the desire not to lose anything. Big Callum (Morris) and Jonathan Page were brilliant at the back winning every header. I thought they set the tone for the second half where we worked as hard as we had done in the first half because it wasn't over."

"I am really enjoying it here and it is an easy place to come and settle in. They are a nice bunch of boys and it has been brilliant so far."

Ross' arrival at the same time as others from the West of Scotland has prompted the daily commuters to club together with others to acquire a minibus to travel to and fro.  Ross added:-

"It is good and it keeps us all together. The boys have been brilliant since I arrived but they have been brilliant throughout the season. League One is good but obviously being a bigger club everybody sees us as a scalp and raise their game against us."

The win over Ayr United put more distance between the Pars and one of the play off contenders and Ross aims to put as many points on the board without thinking about other teams. "Once it is mathematically secured that will be it."
