Preview Queen of the South

Ladbrokes Championship: Saturday 2nd November 2019, 3.00pm kick off at East End Park

This Saturday Dunfermline will host Queen of the South. Both teams have 13 points from their opening eleven matches, they have the same goal difference and the Pars are only listed above their opponents in the Championship table by virtue of having scored three more goals. So this is what many term a six pointer.

As if that is not enough to stimulate the taste buds then there is the return to East End Park for Queens management team of Allan Johnston and Sandy Clark. Then there will also be possibly three former Pars players in the Queens line up - Scott Mercer, Michael Paton and Faissal El Bakhtaoui.

The first match between the teams at Palmerston Park in August ended up 1-1 after Kyle Turner’s early goal was cancelled out by a 62nd minute Gary Oliver goal. Queens have won league matches at East End Park in every one of the last three seasons so on the back of two home wins, Stevie Crawford’s men will be wanting to halt that.

Ryan Blair’s only goal for Dunfermline Athletic secured the Pars fourth successive win, one that lifted them into a play off position.

He had produced the best effort of the first half so it was justice when Ryan BLAIR made the 74th minute breakthrough. Jackson Longridge sent the square ball in from the left and the on loan Swansea City player opened his Dunfermline account with a powerful shot low to the keeper’s left. 1-0

The Dumfries men finished strongly and had two really good opportunities to grab an equaliser. Some dogged defending and a Ryan Scully save from a Barry Maguire header kept them out. The home side extend their shut out record to 373 minutes.

The win, their fourth successive in the Championship, took Dunfermline to their highest league position since the opening day of the season.
