Saturday, 8th Dec 2018

Ladbrokes Championship: Saturday 8th December 2018, 3.00pm at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill

After the resounding 3-0 home win over Morton last Saturday the next game cannot come quick enough for Allan Johnston’s team. While the Pars had something to celebrate their next opponents were sliding to the foot of the table. That said the trip to Glasgow will probably be to meet an even more determined Thistle who are now under the direction of Gary Caldwell.

Last meeting at Firhill
Partick Thistle 3 Dunfermline 3
28 April 2013, First Division

The Pars travelled to Firhill to face a Partick team that had secure the First Division title. The season still had two fixtures to complete the league programme and the Pars required precious points from those last two fixtures to avoid the play offs. Partick went ahead in 27 minutes. Chris Erskine did all the hard work to lay off a fine ball for former Pars captain Jordan McMILLAN to shoot across Michal Hrivnak and find the net to the keeper`s right. 1-0

Dunfermline got an equaliser in 65 minutes as a result of great work by Stephen Husband on the right edge of the Thistle box. He picked out Ryan WALLACE who took a touch and found the net at the bottom right. 1-1

Seven minutes later Wallace had his shot parried by Scott Fox but Ryan THOMSON was well placed to slot home. 1-2

Then from an 80 minute corner that Wallace sent over from the left, Husband could not control the ball first time but he toed it back towards the left post where THOMSON headed in the Pars third! 1-3.

Four minutes later ERSKINE squeezed in a second for Thistle to create a nervy end to a game. 2-3

The Pars fans were pleading for referee Willie Collum’s final whistle but with 49 minutes 15 seconds of the second half gone a Thistle ball from the left just could not be cleared and Steve LAWLESS was able to sink the ball into the net low to the left. 3-3.
