Dundee United are the visitors to East End Park this Saturday and it will be the first time these clubs have met in the league outside the top flight since the famous 1995-96 season. Back in `96 Dunfermline pipped the Tannadice club to the First Division title finishing with 71 points to United`s 67.

Dundee United won the last SPL match in which they met Dunfermline at East End on 29th October 2011. .Prior to that however it was back in January 1997 when United last triumphed at East End Park. Kjell Olofsson (2) and Jim McInally scored for the visitors, with Harry Curran scoring for the Athletic.

Tenth placed United disposed of their eleven placed rivals when the teams met on 29th October 2011. Paul Dixon drove the visitors into a 13th minute lead. Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle made it 2-0 five minutes later and then a 26th minute red card for Gary Mason made it even harder. for the Pars. Andy Kirk got a goal back ten minutes into the second half but goals from Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven polished off the Pars.
