Perfect Day is so Devine

Last season defender Danny Devine made 34 appearances for Saturday’s opponents Partick Thistle but now after leaving them for Dunfermline in July he is set up to return to the ground that was home for him for two seasons.
The 26 year old defender knows a couple of the boys still there well enough to know that they are bitterly disappointed and hurting. He said:- “I think that also makes them dangerous. We need to be on top form going there on Saturday.
“I left there on a bit of a sour note but it will be good to go back and see some old faces. I am totally focused on the job in hand, going there and picking up all three points.
“As a club and as fans they will be expecting, like ourselves, to be up the top of the table fighting for promotion back into the top flight.
“In the summer there were a lot of changes to the team, a lot of new players but also getting used to the league. A club like Thistle coming down into this league are expected to win. You are not expected as much of in the top league so it is a different type of pressure but we need to make sure that we do our jobs and hopefully go there and get the win.”
A win would be only the second back to back wins of this league campaign and would be very welcome on the back of achieving just the second home league win of the season. Danny felt that it had been a while coming.

The only thing missing was a goal at home from the Irishman, he hit the crossbar against Morton and pointed out:- “I have been close a couple of times and so the sooner the better.”
It was Aidan Keena who set the Pars up for the win with a goal in the fourth minute. Danny was relieved to get the home win adding:-
“I think we played just as well in the games against Falkirk and Queen of the South and has just as many chances but it shows getting that first goal gives the team and the crowd a real lift. They got right behind us and stands us in good stead for the rest of the game.
“We know that we haven’t hit top form at home so it was very important and now we need to kick on.
“If you keep a clean sheet you can’t lose the game and we know in this league with the players that we have got, we will always create chances. It only takes that one chance and if we can do our job at the back then it gives the boys up the top end of the park an opportunity.”
