Paul's penalty save powers Pars

Paul Gallacher saves penalty v Raith

Paul Gallacher was pleased that his penalty save came at a very significant time in the match. Raith Rovers had the chance to take the lead but Brian Graham's 17th minute spot kick

"You have to chip in with these kind of things. Luckily I saved the penalty but I thought the boys were absolutely fantastic to a man. The support we had was tremendous so it was a great day all round."

The 32 year old keeper admitted that his record at penalties isn't too bad but confessed that having studied potential penalty takers preferences in the past with no particular effect on his success rate, he now just guesses where his opponent is going to put it.

"I am useless at everything else but saving penalties is something I do every now and then. Now I just guess, goalie's shouldn't think. I am happy just to keep the ball out of the net. The boys got a wee boost from it and responded amazingly. We controlled the first half and tried to do more of the same in the second.

"When they came out for the second half they came at us. They scored a good goal with a great header but yet again we responded magnificently well and went on to cruise it. We were very comfortable in the end."

This clearly suggests that the team in front of Paul is beginning to take shape into a real competitive unit:-

"The boys are mixing well and with more game time are showing a massive turnaround from the start of the season. Slowly but surely we are improving."

For Paul too it is great to comeback after an injury that took seven and a half months to heal:-

"It was pure torture to be fair. I had never been out that long. Watching week in week out we were not performing well in the SPL and it was really hard to take when you cannot do anything to help the boys out at all. Frustrating times but a lot of hard work with the physio got me to the stage where I was fit.

"It is good to be back playing in games like this because these are the ones you want to be playing in. Hopefully we can kick on and do well in this league."
