Pat Clarke Post Dundee

Monday, 25th Oct 2010

There was a lot of emotion out there, you could tell by the boys tackles. They approached the game in a physical way and you could tell that they were hurting.

Pat Clarke returned to Dens Park for the first time since leaving them in the summer. It wasn't a winning return unfortunately:-

"Although we were 2-0 up it maybe didn't reflect the way we were playing. I didn't think we started well, Dundee showed a lot more hunger and maybe we were fortunate to be 2-0 up but that's the way it goes. We managed to get to half time but Dundee got back into the game with two silly mistakes from us but these things happen."

Pat claimed not to have had good views of the incidents that handed Dunfermline two first half penalty awards.

"Judging by the Dundee players reaction they felt that they were hard done by. I think it is a grey area nowadays; it is really hard for referees because they have a split second and yet we see in the highlights - even down south - is it hand ball or is it ball played the man? I don't even know myself, if you are shooting for goal and the defender blocks it, is it ball plays man or is it a penalty? It is a grey area, who's to say that its a penalty or not. It went for us this week but maybe next week something like that could go against us. It is how you react after (that matters) -don't let it affect you, you need to react to it."

Dunfermline were the visitors for Dundee's first home game since they went into administration. The former Dundee striker described the feeling:-

"There was a lot of emotion out there, you could tell by the boys tackles. They approached the game in a physical way and you could tell that they were hurting. So they should be because of what has happened at this club. It is terrible the way things have panned out - boys losing their jobs is a horrible situation. The boys who are left know that they have a job to do and they did it well against us.

"It was 2-2 but it feels like a defeat. After being 2-0 up it feels like we have lost. You should never let another team come back into it like that. We just need to bounce back next week."
