Nick Phinn Post Clyde

Sunday, 22nd Mar 2009

"I enjoyed the game; that is the first time that I have scored more than one in a game so I am delighted with that."

Nick Phinn celebrates a brace v Clyde 21/03/09

Nick Phinn was subbed in the 35th minute of the second half of the Homecoming Scottish Cup replay in Aberdeen which meant it was easier for him to feel fresh for the match at Broadwood. The contribution from the youngster against Clyde was two goals and one assist so Jim McIntyre's surprise substitution on Wednesday night seemed to pay off.

Nick felt that Dunfermline played so well against Clyde that they made it look really easy:-

"We turned up straight from the word go and I thought that we were impressive. I enjoyed the game; that is the first time that I have scored more than one in a game so I am delighted with that."

The two goals at Broadwood take the 20 year old midfielder's tally for the season to eleven. He claimed that he was just lucky to get forward into goalscoring positions and long may that continue. As well as scoring Nick was a major assist in Calum Woods first half goal:-

"It was a great run from Calum, I saw him taking off and Bell did well to lay it to me. Calum took a great touch and finish, I am happy with a contribution to his goal as well."

Jim McIntyre's pre match warnings were to take Wednesday night out of the players' heads and think about the semi final once it comes. His team got back to league business with the 4-1 win over Clyde that was the Pars seventh win out of 13 away league matches. Nick hopes that means that the title aspirations are not yet extinguished:-

"You can never say never. We know yourselves you can go on a run and climb up so many places. Obviously we have to take it game by game and hopefully we can go on a wee run starting from now.

"It's not a great trip up to Dingwall but we have to do it and hopefully get a result."
