James Vincent has been aware of Dunfermline’s interest in him since just after Christmas. He admitted that the deal dragged out a little longer than he would have liked but he was always happy with the opportunity to come to Dunfermline.
“I am glad it has all got sorted. I don’t really feel that I have given a chance at Dundee this season. I think the manager there would say the same thing. It is frustrating but just one of those things. He has brought in a number of players and he has gone with them. Sometimes you find yourself out, but that is football.
“I have kept myself playing with the under 20s most weeks and always tried to do the best thing for me because I knew I’d like to move on. It will take me a little bit to get fully up to speed but I have always been a fit enough lad so hopefully not too long.”
James describes himself as an experienced player who likes to organise and help the players around him.
“I have good energy, good legs in the middle and I have watch the team quite a few times this season - they like to play football so hopefully I can add something to that.”
James came to Scotland from Kidderminster and made his debut for Inverness in the SPL match at home to St Mirren in August 2013. He scored on his debut, a 3-0 win and was to make 69 appearances for Caley Thistle including scoring the winning goal in the Scottish Cup final against Falkirk.
At Inverness James played alongside current Pars midfielder Nat Wedderburn and as a consequence settling in at East End Park has not been a problem.
In July 2016 he moved on to Dundee and in his first season there played 32 league and cup matches. This season he has not been nearly so much involved. He continued:-
“I started against Aberdeen and Hibs then the next week I was in the stand. I don’t know the reasoning for it but I dealt with it. I always worked hard, trained hard did what I needed to do for myself. I accepted that I needed to move on and I am happy that this is the next stage.”
Although not having played in the second tier of Scottish football before the 28 year old Englishman feels that it is pretty similar to the Premiership and is of the opinion that the team is geared up to be promoted.
He has played at lower league grounds in Scotland like Bayview, Central Park and Stair Park but he is hoping to be selected on Saturday since Cappielow will be a first for him.
