Miller Fenton signs for hometown team

“I have just turned sixteen and the past two weeks have changed my life really!

Sixteen year old Pars fan Miller Fenton has signed for Dunfermline Athletic. Miller who left Queen Anne High School at Easter has taken the first steps towards his dream of playing for the team he has supported all his life.

Miller has stepped up from Fife Elite and fans who attended the recent Reserve Cup tie against Celtic will have noticed him feature at left back marking the Hoops promising young starlet, Karamoko Dembele.

After that debut and joining in training recently, Stevie Crawford had no hesitation in placing Miller on the first team bench on Tuesday night for the Championship fixture against Arbroath.

His emergence has been somewhat meteoric, Miller commented:-

“I have just turned sixteen and the past two weeks have changed my life really! I am excited about signing, I can’t wait, it has been my dream to be honest.”

Starting with Elgin Star, he joined Fife Elite at the age of 12. Miller credits Hamish French and Connor Little among his coaches. After playing last season at under 16 level, he moved on to under 18 at Fife Elite and has been playing two years above his level for a couple of years.

Father Craig Fenton also played left back and was a contemporary of Greg Shields at Rangers. He played for Scotland in the Victory Shield before injury curtailed his football career. Miller was encouraged by both his father and mother and now at Dunfermline he is looking forward to coaching from Greg Shields who of course also played full back. Miller added:-

“He says that he can help me more now that I am full time. I love coming in, a lot different from school but I have managed to get used to it. It is harder but better.

“As a left back I like to get forward, get crosses in to set up goals. I like defending one v one and in the channels. Left back is a good position for me I think.”

Welcome and good luck to Miller.
