Mason's steel v Butcher Boys

Tuesday, 1st May 2012

"We are not getting carried away, there's still games to win.

GARY MASON

Gary Mason feels that by scoring the opening goal on Saturday, the Pars confidence just soared and that must be harnessed again on Wednesday night in Inverness if they are to keep their SPL lives alive:-

"It was a good three points for us and a relief to get that first win at home. It put a bit of pressure on Hibs for the Sunday and that's all that we can do."

Because of the importance of the fixture, Gary struggled to watch Hibs match against St Mirren on Sunday. He was a member of the Pars team that was relegated from the SPL in 2007 and still remember how horrible that was:-

"We went on a good run to close the gap but it was just one game too many for us. It's a different team now and we need to concentrate on going to Inverness and getting the three points. Come Monday we hope to be in a good position but we are not getting carried away, there's still games to win.

GARY MASON

"Before the split our aim was to be in a position where they are in touching distance of Hibs. The game against Inverness will be a hard game; Terry Butcher has always got his sides fired up and we have had quite tough games against them this season."

Gary was keen to major on the more recent successes:-

"From 4-2 down against St Mirren to score four shows the character of the boys and we produced again on Saturday there. Hopefully we can keep maintaining what we have done in the last few games. We need to keep our heads down and keep working hard."

GARY MASON

There is still an outside possibility that Inverness Caley could be relegated and Gary knows that Dunfermline need to go up to the shores of the Moray Firth and get the right result for themselves:-

"We have played well against Inverness without actually winning. We had that 3-3 game at home but it is important that we go up there and win."
