Managers post Aberdeen

26/09/12: JJ " It was hard on our boys because they were just magnificent from start to finish.

JIM JEFFERIES

Jim Jefferies felt that his side were magnificent in the Scottish Communities League Cup tie against Aberdeen:-

"Archie and Craig apologised for the result but they got the one chance and they had to take it. I said to the players in the dressing room 'what a massive step forward for us. We have been playing like that this season but to come against that opposition and play the same as we have been doing is great.

"What we didn't get tonight was a bit of the rub of the green. A couple hit the woodwork and the one at the end there where it wouldn't fall for us in the six yard box - we were even trying to back heel it into the net but it wouldn't fall right just for someone to poke it into the net. That was the story of the night.

"We feel a bit aggrieved about two offside decisions in the first half that were borderline. There was an incident that the players are claiming was in the box, I'd like to see that on the video again. It could have meant trouble for Aberdeen because it was a free kick that might have led to a sending off. You don't want to see people sent off but that is the rule.

"Aberdeen were getting the breaks tonight I felt. Credit to them, once they rode their luck then they came up with the winner. It was hard on our boys because they were just magnificent from start to finish. You couldn't have asked for any more and they couldn't have given me anymore. They gave it their all."

Craig Brown praised Dunfermline's gutsy effort:-

CRAIG BROWN"If I was Jim Jefferies I'd be disappointed and a wee bit upset because his team played well.

"That was a better Dunfermline team than the one that we played last season; the one that got relegated. Jim has strengthened the team so any SPL team playing Dunfermline in this cup would have a great difficulty.

"I am delighted that we managed to squeeze through. There were chances at both ends. We had the best chance of the first half when Niall McGinn was through one on one and skied it. Dunfermline hit the post and in the second half Jamie Langfield had a wonderful save. It could have gone either way."
