Link to audio of both managers post match comments

- - Listen to this Stevie Crawford interview

Stevie Crawford was pleased that this week it was his side that got off to a flyer with the seventh minute goal. He told the media post match:-

“It is not an easy place to come as I said before the game and Peter has his players willing to take the ball and they are clever at finding pocket areas. They are a team that tries to disjoint the opposition and they are not afraid to get on it.

“We are delighted to come away with three points today. I thought that there was a ruthlessness about us although on the day Alloa maybe created more chances. We stuck to our game plan and our belief to try and get our attacking players on the ball as much as we could.”

Asked if it Was a stroke of tactical genius to bring on Kevin O’Hara midway through the second half, SC replied:-

“We finished the last two games with the four that we started with in the forward positions today. Kevin has come to try and kick on with his career as well. It wasn’t a slight on his performances or his attitude but he came on and scored with his first touch against his old club which sometimes happens. I was delighted for him that he went on and got a further two goals because he definitely brought energy to the game.

“I worked with Kevin first when he was a 14 year old at Falkirk. I like his attitude and the way he is as a person. He is hungry and he has not had it easy. That was part of the attraction as well. It took him a couple of years to get game time at Championship level. I have always kept my eye on him and I’m delighted to have him as part of the squad. We have attacking options in there and he is definitely a boy who will fight for his place.”

“Last year we did not beat Alloa so that is important. It is another one for us, we hadn`t beaten Inverness last season and we have come away to Alloa, as I say a very difficult place to come, and won.

“They caused us problems at times in the game, I said in my pre match comments that they would. What excites me is that when we are going through sticky patches in games we are finding a way of winning.

“As well as bringing Kevin on we tweaked it as well. We moved Steven Whittaker and went 4-3-2-1 formation. We brought Dom (Thomas) and Fraser (Murray) in a little bit narrower to try and get then playing the ball out to their full backs rather than getting between us. It worked to our benefit today.”

The result takes Dunfermline into second place in the league but Stevie referred back to Ryan Dow’s comments from the previous Saturday that to come from a goal down against Inverness to win takes that burden off your back:-

“The performance against Dundee last season in the very first game was very very good but I think it was five or six games into the season before our first league victory at Partick Thistle. It is encouraging that we have the maximum six points from the two games.”

Alloa Athletic registered eight shots on target but Pars keeper, Owain Fôn Williams did not have much to test him but did have a vitally important double save in 56 minutes to keep the score at 1-1. He didn’t have much chance at the goal right on half time:

“It was a great delivery and Kevin Cawley put his head on it for a really good finish. I don’t think Owain did have a lot to do but he does show that when he is called upon, his experience at the right times. He is very tuned in to what is required of him, he pulled off a great double save.”

Alloa manager Peter Grant said: "They frustrated us. We had a lot of the ball and never took our chances. You look at the 4-1 and think its a bit of a doing, but to be fair the difference was Kevin [O`Hara] coming on and doing exceptionally well in that period."
