Allan Johnston was disappointed to suffer defeat at home to Airdrieonians on Friday evening, a defeat that ended Dunfermline's impressive run of 15 league games without defeat. He said:-

"We are all gutted because it was a good opportunity to win the game and put pressure on the teams below us. We are disappointed with that but we just need to make sure that we respond in the right manner next week and go on another unbeaten run.

"It was difficult conditions but we cannot make that the excuse. We had enough chances there to win the game, we had enough crosses in the box, we just have to make sure that we are more clinical.

"Airdrie never really caused us problems. In the first half I don't think they were even out of our half so I don't know how they managed to get a goal. It was a poor goal for us to lose, we have got to defend better than that.

"It was the kind of night where one goal was going to be enough. We were getting a bit frustrated near the end and that is when you need a bit of composure to pick the right option, pick the right pass.

"You cannot complain because the boys have done that for the majority of the season. We have to make sure that we do not feel sorry for ourselves, work even harder and next week we are ready to go again."

The manager confirmed that Joe Cardle was missing for the game against his old club due to illness.

"There have been a few of the boys struggling with the flu. Sean Murdoch has been off, Ben Richards-Everton been off, Joe has not been well and could not take any part tonight. He is a massive player for us as well but you cannot make excuses because the boys that played are quality players as well."
