Dunfermline’s new head coach Stevie Crawford said that to lose 1-0 at Tannadice after putting up such a good performance for the first eighty minutes of the game was “a sore one”.

“I think the first half was really positive. We came up with a game plan and were quite aggressive in that we tried to press Fyvie and Stanton.

“We had a few opportunities in the first half and were probably a little bit unfortunate not to take. So really pleased second half to the extent that Dundee United had to make changes first.

“The goal is the one that does us in. We could possibly have created a few more chances with our final ball into the box in the second half.

“I have had two training sessions with them, it has been an unsettling week and I have just said to them that the best thing I can say about today’s performance is that I have taken three boys off the park who have given me their lot.

“The changes I was able to make to try and have a positive on it, yes we have lost the game but if we continue to do that and we get a chance to make decisions to go and try win games or score goals then I’m sure that we will start climbing the table.”

All the Pars fans are watching very carefully for what changes Stevie will make but for his first match in charge he went with the very same starting eleven as drew against Alloa the previous Saturday. He gave his view on the decision:-

“I think it was important, and maybe I have matured from my time at East Fife as a player/ manager having worked under Steven (Presley) and Robbie (Neilson).

“I look at last week and I look at the week before against Falkirk. We went to Falkirk and won 4-2 in a derby game. Against Alloa last week the first half was excellent, second half is probably why I am standing here.

“I just felt these boys deserved the chance. We had a wee tweak, we went with Tom Beadling sitting and two to be up against Fyvie and Stanton.

“You know to come to Tannadice and go that way showed that the boys have a belief in it and they could not have carried it out any better for me.”
