Dunfermline Athletic

Manager on Thursday

Thursday, 19th Feb 2015

John Potter is hoping to take his run of wins to three when he takes his team to Forfar on Saturday.

"It would be nice but we know that it will be difficult. We have probably not played our best up there and we know that they have done well this season but we have confidence and a fully fit squad to chose from.

"We are on a good bit of form winning a couple of games although performances could be better. We have not had much luck this season so last Saturday we maybe got some little bits. I still think we won the game due to our play and determination to win the game.

"In tight games sometimes it is a wee bit of luck that decides it and it would be nice if we could get some. Performances have not been brilliant, they have been okay but wins are the most important thing at the moment.

"It will need to be a good performance to win at Station Park but I am confident we can go and do well."

Since the Pars last played Forfar their left back Jim Paterson had joined Dunfermline but Potts has not gleaned anything new from him:-

"We have played Forfar enough, we know the players and they will be saying the same about us - they will have a good idea about how we are going to play and we could say the same about them.

"Swankie is one of the best players in the league; they have good players, good experience and guys who can hurt you. We will need to be on our toes and be ready for the game, but we have players who can hurt as well. Hopefully it is a good game with us trying to win the game."

Gregor Buchanan has recovered from his head knock in the match against Stenhousemuir. He did light training on Monday but took part with the rest from Tuesday onwards. On Saturday new signing Paul George would have come off after an hour but after feeling his hamstring tighten was subbed at half time as a precaution. He has trained this week so Ryan Wallace is now the only player sidelined through injury and selecting a team will be a problem for the manager:-

"It is a nice problem but we have told the players that everybody needs to fight for their place. The next two weeks will be a busy period; guys like Stuart Urquhart and Faissal were out the squad last week but got back in on Saturday and both played an important part in getting a victory.

"It is important to keep the squad together, there will be disappointed people on Saturday, that is only natural. They have to show their disappointment in the right way and not go in a huff or sulk. They have to come in and show me that I was wrong. It will take a full squad to try and get where we want to go."

Ryan Williamson came through 90 minutes of the under 20s SPFL Development League match against Kilmarnock on Tuesday. The gaffer added:-

"We didn't know if he would last the full ninety but his general fitness is decent. He is just a young boy and he can run about all day. He started the game nervously, then got in on it and once he got into the swing of things we saw signs of the old Ryan.

"Great for him to get ninety minutes, Saturday is maybe a little too soon but we will see how he is in training before we think about the weekend. It is great to have him back and it gives the squad another big boost to have him back in because he can be a big, big player."
