Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston was pleased to take the three points from Saturday evenings home match against St Mirren. Speaking after the 4-3 win he said:-

"When we went in at half time we could not understand how we were behind. We were so far on front, we were the much better team, we passed the ball a lot better, created chances but obviously we got done by two cheap goals.

"We showed a lot of character after going behind and on the run we are on as well. We have been picking up defeats and they could quite easily have put their heads down and gone into their shells. They kept on going forward and got their rewards at the end of the game.

"I thought that there were a lot of top quality performances, none more so than Nicky Clark. I thought he was unplayable at times, he was everywhere and just set the tone for the rest of the team.

"There were great deliveries into the box as well. We have a really good squad and it is all about making sure we get that competition. If we keep playing like that week in week out and keep working as hard as we did today then we will not be far away come the end of the season.

"The players realise that they have not been far away in games but you need to turn performances into results. It was finally good for them to get their rewards because you can see how much they put into it. I think the fans appreciated it as well. They got right behind the team and it did make a massive difference.

"It was good that Farid scored the winner, I thought he probably should have scored the chance earlier. I was cursing him but they are horrible those ones when you probably have too much time and it is bouncing but he showed a real striker`s instinct to get one to that one with the short back pass and it was a composed finish as well.

"We have good players and we want to push on now. There are no easy games in the Champoonship, there is not much between all the teams but I think we have a wee bit of added quality to our team and it is all about getting results and working our way up the table."

Asked about his substitution at half time where Ryan Williamson replaced Callum Fordyce the manager replied:-

"Ryan gives a bit more going forward, he gets forward and pits crosses into the box. We had to go for it. I thought Lewis Martin stepped in and had a good game as well both at right back and centre half. It worked in our favour."

The manager hoped that the result will bring a welcome confidence boost:-

"We have not been far away on all the games, we have showed quality and we didn`t deserve to lose as many goals today. The third one was a great strike but the boys showed a lot of character to come back and get the result."
