Josh sure strikers will deliver

Defender Josh Edwards is confident that goals will come, even though the Pars have scored only one goal in their last four matches:-
“We have good strikers but we had a few luckier bounces at the start of the season when things were falling our way. I’m sure if the ball falls at one of our strikers feet - Kev, Craig Wighton, Dec or Lewis - whoever is playing they will score. We have just not had the breaks.”
Goals would certainly be very welcome in the televised Saturday night game at Dens Park and last time Dunfermline played Dundee in the Kilmac Stadium the sides shared six goals. The Saturday match day routine will be disrupted by the 7.20pm kick off but no matter what time of day, Josh is determined to get a result against the fellow play off competitors.
“It will be a bit different getting a lie in. It is a big match for us. We kind of got away with one up there to manage to come back to a 3-3 draw. We weren’t great that day, so I think we owe them one in a way. Hopefully we can get a result against Dundee because they are a good side.
“We were 3-0 down with twelve to go, we came back but if we can get a win this time it will push us further away from them in the table. Hopefully it could put us in the driving seat to get a play off place.”
Eight league games remain and even though his manager suggested these were becoming ‘cup ties’ but the 20 year old who joined Dunfermline from Airdrieonians in July 2019, said pressure was not noticeably gathering momentum:-
“It is our jobs to go out and do a shift and hopefully win a game of football. I wouldn’t say there is pressure but there is definitely a big onus on the game that we need to go and win.”
Tuesday night’s Scottish Cup knock out in Greenock was a sore exit to take but with Dunfermline not having won away from home since the end of November a change in fortune is badly needed. Josh continued:-
“We are disappointed but we will move on to Saturday. It’s a big game and we must push on from there. Morton was a tough shift, it is a hard game going to Cappielow, it always is. We knew that it was going to be a battle but I think we competed well with them, obviously the penalties didn’t go our way.”
After playing every minute of every match this season, Josh missed out on the two Championship matches earlier this month against Morton and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He hopes that his place in the team is back after playing the 120 minutes in midweek and marking the lively opposing forward, Aidan Nesbitt:-
“I have had a few fitness struggles recently so it was good to get back in the Morton game. I have had a few tricky games against Nesbitt, he is a good player and it is never easy against him. Extra time was a bit of a killer but hopefully I am back in on Saturday.”
