Jim Hamilton Post Hearts

Tuesday, 2nd Jan 2007

We are starting to drift, nine points are a lot of points to make up. We have to be positive, not dwell on that and concentrate on one win, then build on that.

SPL Reserve League fixture: Aberdeen v Dunfermline will be played on Wednesday 3rd January 2007 at Links Park, Montrose.  Kick off 1.00pm

"It was a game of two halves. They scored, Roddy (McKenzie) kept us in it at the end of the first half - we could have been 3-0 down. Second half we made a couple of changes and we were a lot more direct.

"We had a few chances, a goal that was disallowed for who knows what. That is the luck we are getting; we have to make our own luck and hopefully that will start soon."

Jim Hamilton v Hearts 02/01/07

With five matches and 450 minutes without a goal since Stephen Simmons 92nd minute consolation against Celtic on 10th December, Jim is well aware of the unfortunate statistic:-

"It is not a nice one to have but if you look at the players we have got it has to come sooner or later. It is easy saying that but we have to do it on the park. Hopefully we can get the first one on Sunday. It is not a nice thing to have."

Does it prey on the mind?

"It probably does but look at the squad and the players who can score goals, not just the strikers - it could be anybody. We just need somebody to hit in it off their a**e, hit anything and hopefully the flood gates will open."

How is the mood in the dressing room?

"Obviously the boys are disappointed with the result but we have to take positives out of the second half. We had a good few chances with the ball flashing across their goals a few times, shots that were getting blocked and goals disallowed, things like that. We just need to be more positive, we can't let our heads go down.

"We have a break from the league this Sunday but to stay in the SPL is most important."

What is it going to take to stay in the SPL?

"Points and goals. We are starting to drift, nine points are a lot of points to make up. We have to be positive, not dwell on that and concentrate on one win, then build on that."

Do you need more players?

"I dunno, that is the Manager's choice."
