Greg Ross Post Partick

Monday, 25th Jan 2010

"Obviously we were disappointed at the end to not get a clean sheet against Partick but we still had the four goals for the win."

Partick Thistle v Dunfermline

Greg Ross has become one of a handful of players that Manager Jim McIntyre seems to have first on the team sheet every week. Without tempting fate Greg described how that had boosted his game:-

"That is about sixteen games now that I have played in a row. It is the first time that I have done that in two or three years because of injuries and whatever else. It gives you confidence when you are not having the best of games one week - you know that you still have a chance to play next week.

"Whereas in the past I have maybe just been left out because of one bad game. Obviously you get fitness up from playing every week, that has helped me and we have had a settled back four in the last few games. It has helped me and hopefully we can keep on grinding out results. Obviously we were disappointed at the end to not get a clean sheet against Partick but we still had the four goals for the win."

22 year old Greg claimed that the news from the SFA Appeal on Thursday lifted everyone at the Club but stressed that the players have just been centring their attentions on the game against Partick.

"We just take it one game at a time and let the rest of the things take care of themselves. We came here to do a job and I think we did that well. We just waited to see what happened with the appeal, it was out of our hands and so we just had to concentrate on this game. Obviously it was a big lift for everyone but it is still going to be a tough game at Stenhousemuir. We will focus on that now and hopefully we will get the result.

"The Manager had it drilled into us after the last game we played that this was the next game for us. We just had to take care of this game today, it has worked out well and we got a great result."

The 4-1 defeat of Partick Thistle was secured with a second half hattrick from substitute Joe Cardle:-

"We know what wee Joe is capable of that; he does it in training all the time. He took confidence from scoring in games, he has done it a few times now this season and we know what to expect from Joe now. It is just great to have players like that who can come on and change the game for you."

Cardle completes hattrick

Greg knows from first hand just how difficult to face Joe Cardle as an opponent after being given a torrid time by him at Broomfield last term:-

"Joe is a confident boy in himself but if he can play that way consistently he is unplayable. I played against him last season and when he is on form like that there is not a lot you can do!"
