Geggs find Brazils hard nut to crack

Monday, 2nd Nov 2015

"It was a battle so you are frustrated straight away."

Dunfermline discovered their Halloween opponents were testing and skipper Andy Geggan felt that the goalless draw demonstrated just how tough a place it was to get a result.

"We didn't create many chances but we should have scored from the chances that we did create. A point I'd better than getting beat at the end of the day. The chances in the first half were quite clear cut; the one Faissal had he would have finished at the start of the season. That is what happens in football."

The lack of goals at Central Park was a big disappointment to Britain's top goal scoring team who failed to score for only the second time in twelve league games this season..

"Cowdenbeath stuck in well, some of their players worked very hard. They have decent players and shouldn't be where they are in the league but for us to come to Cowdenbeath it is always going to be difficult for us to play football here, even Rangers find it hard here.

"It is a small pitch and their boys worked really hard pressing us. They stopped any chance of us playing football at all but don't get me wrong, our boys were pretty poor as well and never turned up.

"All we can do is get right into next week; just have a good week's training session and that will be us."

Andy collected a yellow card in the first half and Gordon Smith was shown yellow for his challenge on Geggs. The 28 year old Pars captain said that was "just one of those games."

"It was a battle so you are frustrated straight away. I just got mucked in and that is what happens."

It was particularly disappointing that the team did not award the large travelling support, Andy closed by saying:-

"As Pars fans do they get behind us. If it is not going right they are going to go against you which is fair enough. It was a good crowd at Cowdenbeath."
