Pars keeper Paul Gallacher has pledged his future to the club for a further three seasons having signed a new contract earlier today (Tuesday).

The Scottish internationalist has signed a new three-year contract.

Dunfermline Athletic Chairman, John Yorkston, said he was very pleased with the news.

"We are delighted that Jim has secured Paul for three years. He's a first class goalkeeper and it shows our commitment to getting up next season."

Paul joined Dunfermline at the end of August 2007. He started his playing career at a very early age when he was recognised as a good prospect. Since his first game of first team football in 1999 whilst on loan to Airdrie from his club Dundee United .

Shortly afterwards he became United's first choice goalkeeper and remained so until he signed for Norwich City in June 2004. During that period he won Scotland U21, B international and full Scotland caps.

In total he has eight Scotland caps, the last against Estonia on 27th May 2004.

Paul Gallacher moved from Dundee United to Norwich City on a free transfer in 2004. He waited almost two seasons to make his debut, as Robert Green filled the number one spot. Having only played during loan spells at Gillingham and Sheffield Wednesday, he finally got his Norwich start under Nigel Worthington and then made a total of 36 appearances.

New boss Peter Grant however, brought in four other keepers to contest the number one shirt and Gallacher endured a difficult season.

With David Marshall and Matthew Gilks signed during the summer, it looked like he was not going to get much of an opportunity so with one year left on his Norwich City contract he was happy to join the Pars on a loan deal until January 2008, when he then moved to East End Park permanently.
