Jim McIntyre told the media on Monday that he was delighted to sign Austin McCann:-

"He is a player I know from his time in Scotland before, as a kid when I was at Airdrie. He has obviously progressed with a good move to Hearts and has spent the last three years in England and done very well.I am delighted to have him, left backs are hard to find especially of good quality. You need a fit boy to get up and down the park with a quality left foot."

The new arrival from Notts County revealed that he had decided before Christmas that he would like to return to Scotland:-

"I spoke to other clubs in December and January.  Once I got the call to tell me that Jim was interested my heart was set on coming here.It was just a case ofgetting the deal done and I was glad to get it signed (pre-contract) early on.

"Jim is somebody I have known and respected in the game.He was a major factor as was the challenge here - Dunfermline is a big club and should be in the Premier League. The challenge to get us into the Premier League is a massive one and I have come here to hopefully help them achieve that.

"It is a positive thing for me. In the three years I have been down in England the teams I have been playing with have been roundabout the middle and sometimes you feel there is nothing to play for. That won't be the case here, every game will be important as only one team goes up out of the First Division. You have got to be Champions, its as simple as that and I am determined to do it.

"Dunfermline are a Premier League club to be honest.  I was three years at Hearts but I never really cemented myself into the team and become a regular. I am determined to get back into the SPL and prove myself. We need to get out of this First Division and hopefully next year I can be back playing in the SPL.

"I played in the First Division with Airdrie and served my time at Hearts without really becoming a regular, I played a game here or there.  Only 40 appearances in three years, it was not good enough personally and I am determined to get back into the SPL."
