Dylan Duncan comes to Dunfermline

Friday, 31st Jan 2020

Pars secure loan deal for 21 year old Queens Park Rangers player.

Midfielder Dylan Duncan has signed for Dunfermline, on loan from Queens Park Rangers until the end of this season. The 21 year old Londoner kicked off his career at Southend United before joining Tottenham Hotspur at under 18 level.

He spent five years at Spurs playing 26 games in Premier League Two for Tottenham U23s before joining Queens Park Rangers in June 2019. He has captained the R’s Under 23 side this season.

Stevie Crawford gave the background to his move for Dylan Duncan:-

“I spoke to an agent over the summer and Dylan’s name was put to us with some video footage. As we do as a coaching staff we all had a look at it and in the main it was clips of Dylan while he was at Tottenham.

“He is a midfielder with good energy about him. He looked hungry, he had a wee bit of bite about him. He had since moved on to QPR and the email that we got suggested the possibility of a loan signing.

“We felt that it was something that we had to look into so we invited him up. He came in for a week and he has caught the eye. We felt that there was something to pursue because there was something there.

“We are excited with him and the fact that he is signing on loan until the end of the season will give competition for places in there. He is keen to show that he can play at first team level.”

Stevie explained that Dylan would be a similar situation to the arrival of Harry Cochrane and Anthony McDonald on loan from Hearts and Josh Coley coming in from Norwich.

“It is important when you bring loan players in from parent clubs that you are not actually putting yourself in a position where they are guaranteed games because there has been a promise made there. They have got to earn the right.

“When I spoke to Dylan I said that there are a number of midfield players at the club. It is going to be a big challenge for him to try and oust a few and get in there. That was a big part of the attraction that he is backing his beliefs that he has what it takes to play for Dunfermline.

“He watched the game on Friday night and was very complimentary of the way we played and the players who played in his position but he thinks that he can come in and do a job for us. There is an opportunity there should be perform at a consistent level. Only time will tell.”

Dylan was part of the Spurs team that won the South Korea Cup and featured in the Frenz Under 18 International Cup in Malayasia as well. He was a regular in the Spurs team that got to the semi finals of the 2016-2017 FA Youth Cup.

Dylan is from Newham in east London. He attended GGSK College in Chigwell.
