Dunfermline draw feels like defeat
Saturday, 12th Mar 2016Joe Cardle:- "We are at the final hurdle now and we want to push on and keep winning games.
"Tuesday night was one of those games where we were very frustrated from start to finish. Even when we got the lead we never played to our capabilities. We didn't play our normal game and with a crowded midfield players like myself couldn't get on the ball to make things happen like I have done throughout the season.
"It could have been worse, we could have lost the game. It was still a point at the end of the day but it still felt like a loss. We have to look to Saturday now and hopefully go and get the three points there."
Joe's memory of his last match at Somerset Park is still one of seeing red:-
"That was another game cut short. I got away with it in the end after going to Hampden but at the time it was horrible. Getting sent off is never nice but especially in a big game like that. Thankfully we came through and got the three points.
"I didn't get suspended but I got a yellow card on Tuesday night so I will be suspended for the home match against Brechin City."
Joe would take any kind of win over Ayr:-
"To go there it is always going to be a hard place to go. We know that it is going to be a tough game and they will be up for it. They dropped points last Saturday but got a good win on Tuesday night. To go there and get the three points we have to be at it right from the start.
"We have got to be in their faces but we need to play our game as well. We have got to get the ball down and do what we can do - create chances and put them away. We have done that throughout the season but we just need to keep doing it.
"There are only eight games left and each game for us is a cup final. Three points are crucial. Picking up one point like we did on Tuesday night is not going to be good enough. Three points are massive for us and we have to start that on Saturday.
"Ayr are chasing us but the pressure is on us. We are sitting top but we have dealt with the pressure throughout the season and hopefully we can do it for that last wee bit."
Joe is hoping that Dunfermline fans travel to Ayr in their numbers:-
"I am hearing that the buses are sold out which is fantastic. Many times this season they have been brilliant and followed us everywhere. Obviously the stadiums are not the nicest; we are going to stadiums that the club is not really used to but from the first day of the season the fans have been unbelievable. They all play a part and hopefully they can cheer us on to a win."
