Dan wants to prove he is the man

“The manager has never said I’m not part of the plans, he’s been happy with me and I always come in with the right attitude

Dan Pybus felt that he put in a good performance but is acutely aware that his inclusion in the team is based entirely on what his manager thinks. Sunday’s derby against Raith Rovers was the first time that John Hughes had started the 24 year old who started his career at Sunderland. Prior to Sunday Dan had only made two appearances off the subs bench for his new gaffer but he told the website:-

“The manager has never said I’m not part of the plans, he’s been happy with me and I always come in with the right attitude, working hard. For whatever reason, sometimes you don’t play for a period of time, but that doesn’t mean you should just chuck it and give up!

“It’s been a difficult six or seven weeks, but it’s nice to be given the opportunity. No matter where you go, you are going to have ups and downs but you have just got to react well, train hard every day, and be fit and ready.

“We are in a situation near the bottom of the league where everyone is needed. Everyone is going to get a chance. We have got a brilliant squad and we definitely should not be in the position that we are in right now.

“We have to be playing better and be not conceding as many goals. We lost three at home to Queen of the South, three at home against Arbroath but at Raith we were much much better. We have been shipping goals so it was nice to get a clean sheet but it would have been good to take one of those chances. We also need to have that clinical edge to our game, better passing and better final pass.”

Despite being involved sparingly Dan has enjoyed life at Dunfermline since the arrival of a new manager:-

“The manager motivates everybody, he pushes you to get the best out of you but he has also got that jokey side. When he comes in the morning he will make everyone laugh, which is important and you can see that results in everyone giving 110% for him.

“We just need that little bit of luck now with chances to fall and go in the back of the net.”
