Craigen’s goal is top four

Wednesday, 14th Mar 2018

“We are right up there with a great chance of getting into the top four.

James Craigen was pleased to score and open his Dunfermline account in the match against Inverness Caley on Tuesday night. The 26 year old who joined the club on 19th January this year, told the media:-

“I am delighted to score but most important are the three points. It was a must win game even though the next three are probably must win too. “

For James it was equally pleasing to claim his first Pars win and to be the match winner. He felt the win had been coming for a long time:-

“On Saturday we were off form but in the games before that we were solid and maybe deserved to win down at Queen of the South and away at Livingston. The lads are buzzing but we just need to keep going now, let’s get on a run with another massive game on Saturday against Morton.”

The midfielder hopes that the result can kick start a run:-

“In recent games we have been getting chances and we just needed to get a goal in. Second half we created a lot more chances and probably should have scored more.

“After going 1-0 up early in the first half we got a little nervy at times but for our second half performance I think we deserved all three points.”

James was very conscious that by taking three points off Morton on Saturday that could reduce the gap between Dunfermline and their fourth placed opponents down to just one point with a game in hand.

“We need to recover, recharge and go again with a performance like we did on Tuesday. On Saturday after the game everyone was doom and gloom but after the win everything looks promising, we are right up there with a great chance of getting into the top four.

“It is not going to be easy, Morton aren’t going to give up that position easily at all so we need to get the three points playing in front of our own fans.”

To make the win over Morton James is well aware of the damage that the Greenock club has inflicted upon Dunfermline this season with late winners:-

“The Scottish Cup tie here was a tight game and they scored in the last five minutes. Again they scored in the last minute away from home a couple of weeks later. We are due a victory over them so fingers crossed.”
