Dunfermline Athletic

Bobby ready to dazzle

Sunday, 3rd Apr 2022

“I feel good, I feel that I can add something to the team whenever I’m needed. I feel ready to go ….

The Dunfermline Athletic players trained on the grass at McKane Park on Saturday morning and despite being thoroughly put through their paces, they enjoyed training on their weekend without a match.

The Pars on loan striker Bobby Kamwa looked like he really enjoyed the session and he told the website:-

“It was good, a bit different from the Astro but it gets us ready for the game on Wednesday.”

Bobby Kamwa joined Dunfermline on loan from Leeds United on 27th January until the end of the 2021-2022 season. The 22 year old described the training facilities at his home club:-

“At Leeds we train on grass every day, we have Astro but that is only used when there is snow or bad weather. The majority of the time we are on grass and for me personally it was good to train on grass today.

“There is a bit of a difference because Dunfermline as a club is trying to get to the level where we have our own training ground here. At the moment we have to cope with Astroturf so the facilities are different but the work ethic of the boys is not too different.

“Everyone puts effort in every day. I cannot single a player out who is not putting in any effort and it is great that the boys are doing that because there are five finals coming up. We need everyone to be at it.

“I feel good, I feel that I can add something to the team whenever I’m needed. I feel ready to go, it is just a matter of the minutes I play. Me and the gaffer get along well. I listen to his words and what he has to say to me before games. I just try to take everything in and learn.”

This is Bobby’s first experience of going out on loan and admitted his new mentor is very different from Marcelo Bielsa his head coach at Leeds United.

“I’m still learning but I have a lot to add to the team yet. John Hughes is different from Marcella, he is a bit of a motivator and a coach for me. Sometimes you can have worked in the morning and feel a bit tired but he always gets into your ear saying that everyday you have to give it that 100 per cent. He motivates me everyday.

After being out for seven weeks with a foot injury, the 22 year old returned to competitive action at Inverness the previous Saturday. Now he hopes to cap his three appearances as a substitute with a first Dunfermline start but he understands what it might take:-

“The gaffer does his job, all I can do is work hard on the training pitch. He makes the decisions, he knows what is best for the team. I need to be consistent in training, keep going every day and I know that my chance will come.”

The striker from Douala in Cameroon feels like the Dunfermline team’s chance is going to come as well:-

“I am really positive about the team. I know that we can do something in these last five games. Our target is not to get into the play offs, we are trying to finish as high as we can. Hopefully we can do that.”

In the first of those Dunfermline’s five cup finals will be the local derby at home to Raith Rovers on Wednesday night. The visitors will be seeking to take the three points that would take them level on points with fourth placed Partick Thistle. The importance of the Fife derby to the fans has also been fully explained to Bobby who closed:-

“I have heard about them, I am hoping that my first start can be against them so hopefully we can get the fans behind us cheering and get us going.”
