Blue do in Peterhead

Saturday, 8th Nov 2014

Stuart Urquhart's first visit to Peterhead will not be one that he will want to remember.

Losing a goal two minutes from the end of the regulation 90 was not the perfect introduction to the Blue Toon. He did not look forward to the long journey back in a dejected Pars bus:-

"We were gutted to lose the match to a goal so late on. We had total domination for the whole of the first half. We were well on top and had loads of chances and had we got the breaks it might have been that bit easier for us in the second half. In the second half they made it difficult for us playing the long ball."

After the break, Peterhead boss Jim McInally deployed a tactic pushing up on the wings to counter the Pars threat down the sides. Stuart commented:-

"We had a lot of joy through our full backs in the first half, fair play to him if he did that. It was harder to get out from the back in the second half. They made it difficult."

The 19 year old central defender was yellow carded just before the midway point in the second half and he thought he was rather harshly dealt with:-

"We were both running for the ball, he came in behind me. It was just one of those things."

Stuart backed the management team's decision to bring on Lewis Martin and Ryan Williamson in place of Ross Forbes and Faissal El Bakhtaoui.

"I think he was right to do that because they were putting us under a lot of pressure with the long balls. He put a couple of defenders on to try and help us but in the end maybe a lapse of concentration cost us."

Referee Calum Murray added five minutes at the end of the game and Stuart was unlucky with the final chance of the match but drove his shot at Peterhead's keeper Graeme Smith, he continued:-

"We will look over that on Monday, have a think about it but we just need to get on with it and go again next week. We are still up there and capable of winning games to get out of this division.

"The good thing about this league is that we have another match up at Peterhead and maybe next time we can finish them off."
