Absolutely Amasing

Wednesday, 4th May 2011

Gary glad that no helicopter will be required to bring the First Division trophy to East end Park on Saturday.

Gary Mason enjoys the celebration

Gary Mason can't quite believe this season's championship achievement and he is looking forward to the tangible evidence when the First Division trophy is presented on Saturday:-

"What a feeling honestly, I don't know if it has sunk in yet. I know that over the piece this season, the boys have been different class. The fans have matched that too and everyone is absolutely buzzing. OK you have rough periods but over the course of the season we have done brilliantly.

"Everyone wants to be part of it; that's what gets you through. To seal it in the game before the last game makes it all the better. Going into the last game having to take something from it puts pressure on you so although Saturday is a big game we can go into that really looking forward to it. We still want to get a result, finish on a high and celebrate it with our home fans."

Gary has now made 295 appearances for the Pars having added 52 now since returning to the Club in February 2010.

"To come back and to win promotion after four years in the First Division has left me speechless at times. You cannot believe it."

The 31 year old midfielder left the Club for St Mirren after relegation in 2007 but 2011 has been a much better experience for him. Although out of contract at the end of this season Gary along with several others do not know what to expect next but he is philosophical:-

"It wasn't an easy move to make in the first place after being at a club for six years but to come back and finish the season like this is brilliant. Contracts come to an end, that's football but being part of the group that won the league has been magnificent. Nobody can take that away from us so we will enjoy it."
