Joe Cardle
Date of Birth: 07-02-1987
Position: Midfielder
Joined: 17-07-2015
Nationality: English
Height:
Previous Clubs: Lytham Juniors, Burnley, Port Vale, Clyde, Airdrie United, Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Ross County
Joe Cardle was a very popular signing when Allan Johnston brought him back to East End Park in July 2015.
Since leaving Dunfermline when made redundant by Interim Administrators in March 2013 Joe joined Raith Rovers where he made 46 appearances. From there he joined Ross County for the 2014-2015 season but made just 14 starts and 11 off the bench for the Staggies. A free agent Joe trialled for Dunfermline earlier this month against East Fife and Berwick Rangers.
As a schoolboy Joe Cardle played for Lytham Juniors and Burnley before signing his first professional contract at Port Vale. Joe was with Port Vale for three years from August 2005 before going on loan to Clyde in 2007-08. He made 10 appearances in the three months at Broadwood from September to November before returning to England after injury curtailed his time at Clyde.
He signed for Airdrie United for season 2008-09 and signed a pre contract with Dunfermline in January 2009. A very quick player, extremely skilful with an ability to play on either side of the park. The East End faithful know just how much the Blackpool-born winger can entertain and mesmerise any defence with his dribbling skills. They saw him make 96 starts for Dunfermline + 42 as sub, in almost four seasons, scoring 24 goals.
Since returning and up until the end of season 2016-2017, Joe made 71 more appearances for Dunfermline including 19 as sub and scored 20 goals including two hattricks.
Dunfermline appearances as at 6 May 2018: 172 plus 72 as substitute, 54 goals.
