This rain delayed match witnessed Dunfermline playing with complete command for 45 minutes and then retiring for the second half. Perhaps if the Pars opening partnership of Britton and Faulconbridge had put in more net practice the duck would have been broken.

Englishman Lee Butler yet again was the star as he thwarted the champions’ hopes of victory at East End Park on Saturday. Three fantastic blocking saves kept the second half goalless and gave the Pars their seventh draw in the last eight matches.

Overcast with a cool North Ayrshire breeze to bother spectators, it was not a day for mosquitoes. Somewhere however Referee Alan Freeland contracted yellow fever and he dished out three debatable yellow cards in 4 minutes.
