Miles Welch- Hayes joins on loan

Dunfermline Athletic are pleased to announce that today they have boosted their squad with the addition of experienced defender Miles Welch-Hayes. On loan from Livingston for the rest of the season, the 27 year old player who plays right sided full back, centre back or midfield has made around 150 senior appearances mainly in English football.

The 6ft 1in defender, who is available for Friday night’s cinch Championship game against Partick Thistle, signed his first professional contract at the age of 19 with his home town club Oxford United in May 2016. He was given his League One debut, still only 19, playing the League One match away to Fleetwood Town.

Miles moved to Bath City after a year at Oxford United. He was named in the Conference South team of the year in the 2017−18 season just after missing out on the play-offs with Bath City.

However In June 2018, he signed for Macclesfield Town, newly promoted to League Two.  When that club hit financial difficulties Miles left in January 2020 and Colchester United signed him a month later on a two year deal. When that contract expired Miles moved to fellow League Two side Harrogate Town but in January 2023, he joined National League club Altrincham on loan until the end of the season.

Described as a reliable, tough-tackling full-back, Miles came to Scotland in June 2023 and has made three appearances for the West Lothian club.
