After two weeks without matches, Dunfermline are hoping that the next match in this season’s cinch Championship will beat the wintry weather.  The Pars return to Tannadice Park to meet the challenge from Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United who themselves were without a match over the Scottish Cup weekend.

In the 146 league meetings Dunfermline have 50 wins and United 57 with 39 match drawn but the Tayside club have a very good record against the Fifers in recent times.

Last Meeting at Tannadice
Saturday 12th August 2023, Championship
Dundee United 1 Dunfermline 1

Dunfermline held the lead for the last half hour but had the three points snatched away from them when Dundee United scored with ten seconds of the six added minutes remaining. It felt like a defeat but it was a good result given the clubs were two leagues apart last season.

Dunfermline’s goal in 61 minutes with United expecting a long Edwards throw in, he threw it for Chalmers to run on to. The midfielder turned and played the ball back for Edwards to cross and WIGHTON was able to rise to meet the delivery.  His header from 12 yards out floated into the far side of the United net. Cue a great celebration in front of the Pars fans. 0-1

It looked like the Fifers had pulled off what would have been just their second win at Tannadice since 2011 but in fifth minute of time added on the Tangerine Terrors found the equaliser. They mounted a final push and when the ball came in from the left CUDJOE was able to smash a left footed shot from 25 yard into the right side of the Pars net. 1-1

A really disappointing end for the 896 Pars fans and all the players, it would feel like a defeat but one point and still unbeaten, now in 26 league matches.
