Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is excited to announce that captain Kyle Benedictus has committed his future to the club with a 2 year contract extension.
Kyle, who made the move from Kirkcaldy to Dunfermline in June 2022, quickly established himself as a key figure at KDM Group East End Park, and demonstrated that no better than captaining the side to the League One title last season. His leadership qualities both on and off the pitch have resonated deeply with the coaching staff and players alike.
Manager James McPake expressed his delight at securing the services of his captain, remarking, “We know how important he is – in training let alone games, he is a massive help to the coaching staff in terms of the standards he demands.”
Kyle brought a wealth of experience and understanding to the squad and he has shown that he knows how to get the best out of players. That implies working hard, having each other’s backs, and ensuring the team spirit is right.
The decision to move to Dunfermline was a calculated one for Kyle. It represented a new chapter after following the footsteps of Euan Murray and Kevin Nisbet. The switch also brought him closer to James McPake, a familiar face from their time together at Dens Park in 2014.
Born in Dundee, Kyle made his debut for Dundee Football Club at just sixteen, and over his spell with Dundee, he racked up 97 first team appearances. After a season-long loan at Alloa Athletic in 2014, Kyle found his home with Raith Rovers for seven years. However, Dunfermline beckoned, and the respect he held for James McPake played a pivotal role, further enhanced on hearing his plans for the club.
Dunfermline fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to seeing their captain lead the team with his clear passion and determination as he and the club continue its journey under the guidance of James McPake.
