INVERNESS CALEY THISTLE 2 DUNFERMLINE 0

It was a young Pars side that travelled north to the Highland Football Academy on Friday to fulfill the SPFL Development League fixture away to Inverness Caley Thistle. Ryan Williamson played the full 90 minutes and former Hibs and Spartans striker, 19 year old Conner Duthie was given another chance to show his potential.

Andrew Macrea had an early opportunity for Inverness but they were to take the lead from a fourth minute penalty. Stuart Morrison fouled Macrea in the box and Ali SUTHERLAND scored from the spot.

The home side kept up the pressure and six minutes later Stuart Morrison made a block and his defence cleared. On 12 minutes Duthie was fouled on halfway by Brown and then MacLennan. Unfortunately the free kick came to nothing.

Scott Sutherland flicked the ball on to James Thomas but was unlucky when it was cut out by defender. Sutherland persevered with another good ball again cut out while on 19 minutes Williamson was caught offside after overhead kick by Duthie.

A Sutherland shot was then deflected for a corner but Caley cleared. At the other end Jordan Orru headed clear a dangerous cross on the half hour and two minutes later the central defender was forward to put in a dangerous cross that was headed out for throw in.

Good passing between Cammy McClair and Thomas put through the striker but James was unable to get shot away. Five minutes from the break, Evan Horne connected with Williamson's cross but his shot was blocked.

Half Time: Inverness 1 Dunfermline 0

The second half began with a dangerous cross from Duncan into the box but there was no one to take advantage of it. Williamson followed that with a low ball across goal but again no takers.

Duncan headed away a dangerous cross in 51st minute before Horne tried to put through Thomas but his ball was cut out. Dunfermline were enjoying most of the possession but were not creating many clear cut chances. Williamson's low cross into box won a 57th minute corner that was taken by McClair. Thomas' header dropped just wide left of goal.

Horne had a shot but straight at the keeper before on the hour, McClair won a corner on left and Duthie got away a shot but keeper Dean Brill gathered low down.

The Pars continued to dominate the possession but produced nothing to show for their endeavours. Williamson blocks a shot and Inverness forced a corner at the midway point of the second half. The corner was taken short and Pars broke and Callum Howarth collected a yellow card for stopping the Pars breakaway.

Horne followed into the referee's notebook for a foul on Macrea before in 71 minutes, MACREA cut in from left and a deflection took the shot past Gill. The Caley goal was certainly against the run of play. 2-0

Duncan had an attempt from close range but only a corner ensued that the keeper held. The Pars keeper saved down low from Kane Hull in 83 minutes and had to deal with two quickly taken corners before the Fifers were given hope of a consolation from two 88th minute corners. Crawford had a chance but defence gave away another corner and Brill gathered the second.

Both teams forced further corners in added time but the defences were to come out on top. It was a good performance from John Potter's team but unfortunately no goals on a difficult pitch.
