Fife Young Carer’s 25-year anniversary

Thursday 14th March saw over 100 young people from Fife Young Carer’s party the night away at “The Prom” held at KDM Group East End Park. To mark Fife Young Carer’s 25-year anniversary they brought together carers from all over Fife aged 14-25 together to celebrate the amazing work they do with their families are and to provide valuable respite from their caring role.

Many young carers miss out on social events, such as school formals / proms, friend’s birthday parties etc, due to their challenging caring role, financial constraints which prevent them attending, or low self-esteem. ‘The Ball’ had the feel of a school prom, providing Young Carers with a 3-course meal, party tunes, and photo booth to enjoy throughout the night.

The week of events culminated on Friday evening with our first team players wearing warm up shirts to raise awareness of the valuable work the Fife Young Carer’s do in the local community along with two young carers, Finley Trotter aged 11 from Leven, and Jensen Woodhouse aged 12 from Glenrothes selected to lead out the team ahead of our 3-1 victory against Dundee Utd.

The club would like to extend special thanks to the supporters who dropped in clothing to the club shop to kit out the youngsters, Mark Dowie from Ahoy Ahoy Social Club for providing free haircuts for the attendees, and the team at Fife Young Carers for putting on such a special event.
