Ryan Wallace Post Hamilton

Sunday, 30th Sep 2012

Two more goals from Ryan Wallace takes his tally for the season to five.

Ryan Wallace v Hamilton

Ryan Wallace was in no doubt that the second Pars goal against Hamilton was his goal:-

"Andy Barrowman did try to nick it but he said that he could not get near it. It took a slight deflection that took it in anyway. A goals a goal if it hits the net, we'll take it."

The two on Saturday takes Ryan's total for the season to five but he knows himself that he has missed out on a good many chances in recent games. He felt that it was a weight off his shoulders but was confident that he would hit the net eventually as he was getting himself into good positions:-

"I just kept working away, giving everything for my team. I knew that the goals would come eventually; I had the chance to score last week but cut it back for Andrew (Barrowman) to tap it in. I'd rather take the points than have a draw or have the game go to the last minute.

"Wednesday was a disappointment in a way but if you look at the performance, there are so many positives to take from it. The Manager said 'that's just football for you'. We absolutely battered Aberdeen; we kept the ball, moved the ball well. Aberdeen have come out and said that we were absolutely brilliant. They scored in the last minute and I am sure that we will do it to a team this year.

"We just had to pick ourselves up on Thursday, train on Friday and then come into the game against Hamilton. You can't look back, obviously you just need to look forward.

"The first half was a bit sticky; we didn't start that great but moved the ball okay. In the final third it wasn't coming off for us. We plodded away and the Manager said to us at half time 'you have not played that bad, you just have to pick it up in the final third'. Then in the first minute of the second half we got a decent cross and got a decent goal."

Ryan Wallace makes it 2-0

The Bellshill born player appears to have hit it off now with his co striker, Andy Barrowman. He was also brought up in Lanarkshire in Wishaw and joined Dunfermline in June 2011 but with Ryan being signed by Jim Jefferies from East Fife there is potential for a deadly partnership:-

"It is brilliant that we have hooked up, we like playing together but it was never worked on, it just kind of clicked. Sometimes that happens at clubs; players have really liked playing with each other. There is nobody at this club who doesn't like playing with each other. Everybody gets on in the dressing room, everybody is happy and the atmosphere is unbelievable - everybody is buzzing about how we are playing."

Picked up on how he felt that it was strange for there to be such harmony, Ryan explained:-

"Usually there is one or two players who maybe don't see eye to eye but play as a team. At Dunfermline there is no one at the club who does not like each other. In training the competitiveness is unbelievable, we train the way we play. That's what we are always told to do and it is fantastic to see."
