02/05/15: Listen to the audio of opinions from both sides.

- - Listen to these, John Potter`s post match comments

John Potter felt that his side played well at times at Airdrie but losing goals in 45th, 46th and 90th minutes typified the Pars this season.

"That was the story of our season, we were soft when it really mattered. The three goals were all easily avoidable goals. We played well in the first half for forty odd minutes and then switched off at a thrown in. Ryan (Williamson) was not aggressive enough from a cross and that caused a goal.

"That is what we don't do well enough. We move the ball well, passing it but when it comes to both penalty boxes we are not strong enough and don't do well enough.

"In the second half they (Airdrieonians) got their second goal but we came back only to lose a crazy goal at the end. That describes our season. There is a softness about us when it really matters and that has been a problem all season."

Asked for his reaction to Thursday's Board statement John said:-

"I will be here next year as Head Coach. A manager coming in will have his own opinion on players and the club. I for one think that is a good thing, it needs to happen because the playing side needs a turn around of players because this season has just not been good enough. Someone coming in with fresh opinions of people when reputations, age and experience go out the window. He will deal with what he thinks is right. The place needs freshened up and that will happen in the summer."

Questioned on the possibility of a new manager maybe bringing with him his own number two, John replied:-

"It won't happen. The Board have made it clear that they want me to continue to work here; I will be the coach. As soon as the manager coming in is announced we will have to try and work together. I am sure that we can do that. I have a lot of knowledge about players at this club and someone coming it with fresh ideas and opinions of people might be a good thing and hopefully that will be the case.

"I have loved being the manager, it has been difficult a lot of times but I have really enjoyed it. You learn about people and about yourself when times are hard. I have learned an awful lot in the four months that I have been in charge. There are things that I move on with, learn from and use in the future - about players, about situations.

"In the long haul it will do me good but it has been difficult at times. You have to move on, stay strong and I will do that."

Asked about his reaction to the last 48 hours, John replied:-

"I knew what was happening. We spoke, I knew what the club was feeling and the way they wanted to go. That is their decision. The last few days have been difficult speaking to players, that is the hard bit, especially some younger players who will be moving on. That is the reality of football, players move on and what we have done this season is not good enough. The squad has to change and that will happen.

"I have had a chat with all the players out of contract, I have told them what I thought but a new man will come in with his opinions, we will speak and decisions will be made. I have told them that if I am involved what my choice is and what I would do, but that is between me and the players."
